Arlington Lamar vs Arlington Bowie

Defense shined as Bowie beat Lamar in a tight contest. What helped seal the game for the Vols was their DLine led by 5 star linebacker Devon Campbell, who forced a safety on this play.  This would put Bowie up by 9 points with 8 minutes left. Bowie would then go on to win the game 19-13 killing a Lamar comeback drive in the process. Campell is usually lined up on the OLine but the Vols have utilized his size to form a vicious pass rush. Campell proved his status as a 5 star constantly opening up holes for his offense and is becoming a terror on the defensive line.

Decatur vs Springtown

Decatur came out swinging in the first half, leading 20-7, but Springtown bounced back and tied the game up late in the 2nd half. Springtown would go on to take the lead late in the game, but then the Eagles took back control with this passing TD to win the game with 1:33 left on the clock.

Rockwall vs Rockwall Heath

It was a back and forth affair in this rivalry game known as the I-30 classic. The game was tied at 14 at halftime setting the stage for an exciting second half. Rockwall led by 4 points late in the fourth quarter and after converting on a 4th and short to keep the drive alive Rockwall scored with this run by Sophomore Zach Hernandez to put the game out of reach and secure the win for the Yellowjackets.

Waco La Vega vs Midlothian Heritage

With the score at halftime being 13-7, La Vega’s defense had, for the most part, shut out Heritage’s offense in the first half through clogging up their run game. However when the Heritage offense stepped back onto the field in the third quarter, they switched their play call to a pass downfield to their top target and leader in 4A receiving yards, WR Hayden Wiginton, who scored the touchdown that gave them the lead and fueled their second half surge of passing touchdowns. Heritage ended up winning the game, 31-21.

Flower Mound Marcus vs Flower Mound

Early in the second quarter of The Battle of The Mound Marcus had already established momentum and was looking to increase their growing lead. LSU commit Garrett Nussmeier had already made a couple of eye popping plays that were breaking the will of the efforts being put in by the Flower Mound defense. This play below is another example of the heroics that Nussmeier was putting on display as he rolls out to escape pressure before completing a big time throw. Plays like this one are why he’s so highly thought of amongst many. He has the ability to extend plays and make plays. Tremendous ones at that.

Midway vs Mansfield

The scoring had gone back and forth pretty much all game with frequent lead changes. About the middle of the 4th quarter, Mansfield’s QB Hunt Young handed the ball off to his RB, Donerio Davenport, for his 3rd TD of the night. This sealed the deal for the Tigers, winning 28-24 in their district opener against Midway.

Coppell vs Plano

It was a showdown that went from a blowout to a battle as the Plano Wildcats fought their way back into the game against the Coppell Cowboys. However, their 22-point comeback fell short because the Cowboys got a little too far ahead thanks to this toe-tapping touchdown enabled the Cowboys to take a 35-33 win over the wildcats and start district play off with a dub!
